# 14. Manufacturing

> *Manufacturing is the process of producing trusted Physical Digital Assets using certified hardware, secure production facilities, and standardized provisioning procedures. The DCN Standard defines the requirements that ensure every manufactured asset can become a secure and verifiable participant in the global DCN ecosystem.*

## Introduction

A Physical Digital Asset is fundamentally different from a conventional NFC card or plastic credential.

Its value is not determined by the material from which it is made, but by the trust embedded within it.

That trust begins during manufacturing.

The manufacturing process must ensure that every Physical Digital Asset is:

* Built using certified components
* Equipped with trusted Secure Hardware
* Produced in controlled environments
* Protected against tampering
* Ready for secure provisioning
* Traceable throughout its lifecycle

Unlike traditional card production, DCN manufacturing creates devices capable of securely representing blockchain-backed assets.

This chapter defines the manufacturing principles that support a trusted global ecosystem.
